What blew on the LS2?
That stuff will swap over to the 5.3, but you'll need the LS2 timing pieces.
3rd gen 5.3 shortblocks don't start to bend rods until 700 or so flywheel HP. 4th gen, probably a lot higher.

I'm currently running an 2005 5.3 in my originally LS2 powered GTO.
The 5.3 is taking every bit of 20-22 psi from my S475
I am running a much bigger cam then the LS9 so you will be fine. Also if its a GEN 4 engine everything will swap over easily. If you are using a GEN 3 engine it is still easily done. Knock sensor locations are different and you'll need to use your LS2 front cover and cam gear.
Just make sure your crank trigger wheel is the same as your LS2s. 24x or 58x.
