Twin BW s300's
Would twin 66mm Borgwarner s300s (.88ar rears) be too big a stock 5.7lt alloy ls1? should i go smaller like say 60mm's? Car is approx 3000lb, th400 trans, 3.45 diffgears, occasional street driven. looking at ~14psi/1bar if engine holds up. if you need other info just ask. cheers.

for a drag car, nothing too serious though, just fun, with occasional street duties. so i suppose im after turbo that will provide killer midrange and half decent top end, but still not create a lag monster. A cam swap to something a little more boost friendly may be on the cards but prefer keep cost down and run std cam.

Im building a 347 with twin BW S359's right now, should be a great combo with .83 housings. I wanted to build the car for drag purposes and planned on S366 with a little bigger housings but I couldn't pass up the deal I got on these rebuilt turbos.

Sure it will work fine. Doesn't' seem budget friendly though. There are cheaper ways to blow up an engine. 14lbs is pretty wimpy. Twin 66's are overkill for that amount of boost. Typical LS1 (gen3) will be weaker than the newer 5.3/4.8's too.
I believe the fastest stock block 5.3 (gen4) record is held by a non-intercooled (E85) 5.3 with twin S366's. Pretty heavy chassis S10 as well...
I'd stuff some cheapy china t4 60-62mm deals on there for your goals.

Don't listen to too much of the BS on here.
That combo will work just fine for your Auto car. Sure there's plenty of other options out there that are more "efficient", but that combo will blow your engine up at 14psi just as good as anything else.
I would be more worried about your stock bottom end rather than turbo selection.

Where are you getting an S366 for less than $600? What I suggested makes much more sense for his application.(size wise). The brand name is irrelevant and would depend on the OP’s budget.
Though I must say some folks aren’t born with shiny silver spoons peeking out of their poop chutes… They may actually have to consider a more affordable overseas turbo option.

thanks for all the replys, youve all given me a bit to think about.
I should probably clear up a few things though, Im in australia which means cheap (junkyard) but strong short motors are difficult to come by unless from an actual importer. brand new bare iron blocks start at 1000 (us$) but a complete running alloy 5.7lt with 241 heads can be picked up for around 500-1000max. we have junkyard l98/ls2/ls3's over here but theyre similar price as a built motor so thats out of the question atm. So because budget is important im running the alloy 5.7 ls1, cheap and easy to source if anything goes wrong.
for a bit of a comparison between chinese and BW turbos, twin 70s from on3 performance will cost me around $870us for the pair, delivered to my door with in a few weeks, whereas the cheapest BW 66s ive found are around $1400 delivered and take upto 8 weeks to arrive
I suppose the answer for me would be to leave the BW 66's to those running decent psi and/or with a stronger engine, i stick to budget and i go a suitable sized chinese pair.

I've heard about BW clones floating around ebay as well. I'd be nervous buying those. Still $1200 worth of turbo and additional plumbing/headache is overkill for 14lbs on a 5.7 IMO.
