Temps were very similar around 80* initially dipping to 75 later in the evening. DA was def. better humidity wise. I don't know what it was to calculate the Da though.

I did have my back pressure rig setup. Peak was 56 on the run where it kissed 26psi the last 100 rpm. Really need to get a better sending unit on it and wire it into the data log. Currently it has a check valve inline so I only get peak reading on the gauge.

Using the info from your first post the old turbo was 2.8/1 backpressure so you were seeing 70psi at 25psi? The new turbo 56psi @26=2.1. That's a nice improvement. Are you going to try and run anymore boost?

I'm glad you're having good results. I've been looking into the Billet 74mm from them. http://www.ebay.com/itm/321458632139?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Should outperform the Cast 76mm I was looking at and has a slightly larger turbine wheel.

H.P.Ranch just bought that turbo. No test results yet, but he sure liked the way it looked in person.

No new testing really. Blew the HG shortly after and it took out the head and alum block surfaces. Threw in a spare 4.8 I had sitting around with a new converter. Then decided to install an MS3X and I'm in the tuning process now. The new converter is nutty tight on a 4.8. Lucky to see 3-4lbs and can only get it to stall up to 3k or so. It's a dog compared to the last motor. (mainly due to the converter I'd guess)

i almost bought one off that same seller till i started noticing all the differences compared to regular s475's w/racecover that we see on here all the time. It didnt quite seem legit in some senses, the puny 2.5" discharge was red flag for me aside from the small turbine wheels. Wound up ordering a S475 w/ race cover on a t6 1.10 from Huron Speed

It's plenty "legit". Your comparing two different turbos. The turbos with the 2.5" discharge are based on the S410 unit. They come from BW/Schwitzer with that housing. It has a different center cartridge and compressor cover than the standard S400 units we are all use to seeing. It also has the larger turbine wheel (than the standard t4 S400 units that come with the 83/74 exh wheels) and a 360 thrust bearing. If you read the AD they also offer a race cover upgrade option (which is $100 cheaper than the huron speed race cover upgrade). In reality that "puny" 2.5 outlet will produce more power than 90% of the builds use on this site.

If you looked a little more you'd also see they offer a standard S400 cover with the same discharge as the common S475 chargers with a "75mm" 11 blade billet compressor. I'd bet it would have worked better than the unit you just purchased for less money.

i have the 88/96 turbine wheel on mine which Apex wouldnt offer for a reasonable price. No offense, clearly your car runs excellent and you know whats up! Im fabbing the cross overs for the turbo this month, we'll see how it goes hopefully around october. Just want 650-700hp at lowish boost levels. I can always upgrade to the billet comp wheel and have a pretty rad turbo. Just got to get it together and see what it does first!

Im more than curious to see your results with this turbo seeing how i came really close to purchasing practically the same one from the same seller.

Take advantage of the anti-lag and 2 step features in ms3x. You'll be able to build boost a little better and push into that converter a little.

IMO for 650-700hp you don't need a T6, 88/96 wheel, or a race cover. Packaging is a pain on the T6 units, esp the down pipe.

So you bought a $390 race cover upgrade for 650-700hp goal? What was the total bill then with the 1.10 housing, $1200-1300? Nothing wrong with your choice, but for your goals either of the Apex turbos mentioned above would have been a better match IMO. I have my results posted in the thread. Basically picked up 5mph at the same boost levels as the small S475. The current intercooler is junk. Im sure it has another 2-3mph in it at higher boost levels with a better IC. For $250 I can toss on a race cover at anytime. Going by an HP to weight calculator the 5.3 was around 900 hp at the flywheel.

I have… this converter is nutty tight. I’m seeing an 1800rpm drop on the shift! Tried 40* adv and -20* on the 2 step. -20 worked better, but I’m still only able to hit 4lbs and barely kiss 3000rpm. This is enough to barely chirp the tire on the street. Then rpm drops below 3k on the TB release and the eng bogs till it hits 4k. Old converter would have been perfect on this setup. I set the converter up tight for the 6.0 going in this winter. I’m going to try a 50 shot to get it spooled. Already got it all wired up, just need to fill the bottle.

Little update.

Race year is over. I installed an LS6 intake manifold (previously LS1) and a treadstone 1200hp rated IC. The 4.8 will now come up into boost on it's own easily with the overly tight converter.

Had a few bugs and not enough time to get the high boost tune up dialed in. (WG issues) I'd see 1200rpm drop on a 7k shift and under 3% slippage up top going by the wallace racing slippage calculator.

Managed a best of 9.1 @ 151. 19lbs of boost. I really think 8's would have been cake at 25+lbs.

Plan to have a SBE 6.0 in the car come spring...

Too bad you didn't get to try it cranked up. That could have maybe broke 160 and mid 8's with the 4.8.
