Don't do the 66s. A single 66 cost the same price as both of either the 70mm or 76mm On3 turbos. I'm assuming the whole point of this build is going to follow suit with the others? Ridiculous big power on cheap parts.

$1150 converters, and S476's really aren't cheap parts.... not trying to be a smart ***, just saying.
Anything 60-70mm with a P trim, or 65mm turbine would get my vote.

Even if he uses an $1150 converter and a couple not "cheap" turbos, He will probably go low 9's for 10 grand total, in my mind that's cheap, no matter if he has a couple "expensive" parts.

On the other hand, would two VSRacing GT45's be out of the question? Cheap and seem to be pretty effective. I am debating grabbing one of them or possibly the new on3 78 mm I heard about for my 5.3 turbo build, but I'm not sure on spooling two of them for you. You're the expert!

Even with the nice turbo and expensive converter (which was left over from his white truck), he claimed $5k for the entire build. And I'm sure he sold it for a bit more than that...

The 76's are "big". You can't just look at one side of the turbo, you have to look at the both as a whole. A 65 exh wheel mated to a 76 comp wheel makes for a lag monster. You don't want a 11mm split between the two. Ideally you want the exh equal or larger than the compressor IMO.

I'd look at a the p-trim "gt35" T4 .68AR, 66mm units like this for twins. Under $300 shipped.

T66 T04S GT35 Water Oil T4 turbocharger 70 A R Anti Surge 68 A R T04Z T04R | eBay
Judging from his previous On3 76mm build, he could stab it from an idle and it would light off instantly, even on a 4.8. I wouldn't call it a lag monster by any stretch. I've had one before and they are physically MUCH smaller than even the 68mm ebay GT45s. The small A/R housings and short center section make them very small turbos when you consider the wheel sizes.

I also vote for the Ebay GT35s. Far cheaper than twin BW 66s, so they're much more likely to be similar to what ends up on the budget minded builder.

I didn't mean that it wasn't a budget build, just that there were some nice parts used. I have followed most of Denmah's builds, and even copied a couple.... he is the king of budget hp.

I don't mean to keep picking apart your posts Joe, but a single P trim on even a 4.8 is considered by most to be a small turbine..... two on a 5.3 will make the turbine to compressor relationship much more apparent, and we havent even talked about surge possibilities with 1800 hp worth of compressor on a stockish 5.3.

This wouldn't be the first time twin 76s were used on a stock 5.3. This wouldn't be the first time with On3 76s, either.

I can't argue that, but personally i'd prefer to have something that works better all around vs being able to tell everyone that I have twin 76's.. I'm sure whatever Denmah chooses will make great power as always.

Hey Forcefed, is it commonplace to plumb those ebay water+oil turbos for water as well or do people just run oil and they live? I've seen those all over ebay but that always made me curious.

I'll have to tell him about the football/softball mod...haha
He put a bigger converter in it and a new set of Hoosiers and it leaves really hard now, wheels up every pass.
I'm sure it would be healthier with a 5.3 but for a tired old Ford it runs really good, the fence post downpipe really seals the deal...haha
