5.3 L33 Turbo, Help me choose a Cam
So last summer I completed the swap in my 83 chevy short bed. im using a borg warner s475 t6 1.32ar. the engine is all stock besides arp rod bolts and head studs. It still has the truck intake as well, heads are stock 799s, Iam running 80s for injectors and A1000 fuel pump, black bear emailed tune. I ran it at 6-7 psi for the few weeks I got to drive before the snow flew. runs great but its tuned for 12-14 psi range, was wanting to get a cam and valve springs as well. will someone please chime in and let me know what I should get or a few options on cams, or what cam/valve spring packages I should lean to,or who is the guy I should call and talk to. thanks.

You do realize that with a cam, it will need retuned, right?
There are a few guys on here that offer excellent cam profiles for a turbo 5.3. Stock48, Martin@Tick, and LJMS (to mention a few) all have proven cams for lots of different applications.

What are your goals? Track, towing, daily driver etc? I had a custom cam and it made great top end power but not much bottom end, valve train was loud and not the greatest mpg. I went back to the stock cam and the car is more fun to drive, gets better mileage and no more valve train noise. The car was also faster at the track with the stock cam. It was faster because I was foot braking the car it it was quicker in the first half. Not saying to go with the stocker but you need to have goals and spec the cam to those goals and the rest of the combo. Tick, Lil'John and stock48 all have results to back up their cams.

thanks for the input. yes I know I will have to retune, and to be honest I don't really have a set goal on the setup, I will daily drive it in the summer, hitting a few local tracks as well I more less want to have super fun street truck. no real HP goal in mind, but if I was to take a crack of where id kinda want to be is in the 600-700 range, id be happy with 550-600. with decent fuel mileage. like I said I don't really care where its at as long as its fast haha
