Default Project thoughts

I have a 1 ton swapped K5 blazer laying around that has a pretty great parts list and is a good beater that I haven't gotten around to building yet. I was going to sell this but the offers i've been getting for it are terrible and I don't want to lose that much $$$$. So ive pretty much talked myself into finishing this and having a fun woods truck I can drive on the street, but the vortec 350 and 700r4 are turds in my opinion in that heavy truck on 37's.

I just bought a Complete 5.3L off a buddy for a good price and it has me thinking about throwing it in the K5 and doing a budget turbo swap. I think with 4.56's,37's and a turbo 5.3 it could be really fun truck. Any reason why I shouldn't swap the 5.3 in with a built 4l60 or 4l80e? Will it be more $$$$ than it's worth on a truck like this. I was thinking something like a 366 for low end power

I'd go for it, something like that would be really fun. The S366 isn't a bad choice either, and I would definitely do a 4L80e/NP205 or something along those lines. What axles are you running?

Yeah I was thinking the 4l60e would be stupid, luckily I just sold a np205 for a 4l80e to a buddy I could get back.

It has chevy Dana 60 front and dana 70 rear with 4.56's/detroits.

well I found a local buyer for my truck but the good news is that I have found a 1968 c10 with a 5.3 and "built" 4l60e swap. So if this sells i still plan on doing a turbo 5.3 truck just in a 1968 c10 death trap

Death trap?

My 70 C10 drives awesome after new steering and suspension parts and a Redhead steering gear. If you run the lousy stock steering parts and brakes then yeah...deathtrap. But otherwise it's not a horrible foundation to build upon.
