Default turbo l92 378" or 416"

I have an l92 I'm gonna build for boost to go in a 69 leaf spring nova. goal is 1100rwhp on e85. I have a new 4" callies crank that I bought when my plans were to go n2o. I have not purchased rods and pistons. For boosted app should I stay with 416" or sell the crank and use the stock crank?

You're gonna find that most people here (and in the turbo world) generally will tell you to stick with the stock stroke. Mostly for reasons involving turbine/compressor efficiency and reliability. When I say reliability, I would be speaking of piston wear/oil control and cylinder sealing at these high power numbers with the stock ls architecture (although I'm not 100% convinced the shorter stroke motors are inherently better at holding the head down). Now you say 1100 rwhp. Do you want to hit that number on a dyno pull and run around with it turned down (probably have issues hooking it anyway), or are you wanting to make 1100 rwhp and make full power passes 1/4 to a full mile at a time? HUGE difference.

You're talking about a 38" difference. Thats 10%, which to me is pretty significant and depending on how you plan to use the thing might would sway my preference.

Seeing as you're new here, do some searching and reading.....................lots to learn.

I would cruise around with it turned down. Not really concerned with performance on the street, will be mostly playing at the track. 1/8 mile only never 1/4. Agreed on a lot to learn as this is my first efi, turbo, and ls build, I've always had conventional sbc carbed with n2o. I was kinda thinking giving up the 38" would be leaving a lot on the table but come from the n2o world were bigger is better lol.

If you're never gonna run it all the way turn't up for more than 1/8 mile, you'd be stupid not to put the 4" crank in it. My opinion.

Yeah 1/8 only. Guess I shouldn't have stated a hp goal, my real goal is to run 5:20's in the 8 on 28's. I'll be looking for someone very soon to spec me a turbo and cam, suggestions on who would be good for that are greatly appreciated.

I have an L92 w/ a JFR cam in mine with a FI S-480 turbo. Might want to check them out for a selection. LJMS wouldn't be a bad choice either.
Here's an LS3 from Steve Morris on Pump gas only, making over 1k fwhp.
