Default S366 twin turbo?

So I think I am going to bite the bullet and sell the procharger parts I have for the 396 LT1 I'm building so I can fabricate up a twin turbo setup instead.

I decided to go with twins. It'll be a bit more money (and I'm on a very tight budget) but it'll be much easier to package, looks better and there is just something about symetry that makes me happy.

I'm new to turbos but after doing some reading and listening to friends who know them a little better, I think I want to go with Borg Warner turbos. I was told by a few people to go with the S366 (.91 AR) but I'm not sure if that may be too big for my motor? What would you guys recommend for a turbo in that price range for my setup? Here are the specs:

96 Impala SS
396 cid LT1 stroker (fully forged, 4 bolt main)
Advanced Induction 200cc heads (F body castings)
Advanced Induction ported LT1 intake
LTCC coil pack setup
4l60e
3.73 rear
Dual feed fuel rail
Aeromotive Phantom Flex fuel system (going to run gasoline, but the pump is 450lph)

Looking to make a max of 700rwhp. Cam will be spec'd out by AI once I decide for sure to start buying parts. What do you guys think about that choice of turbo? I'm open to any suggestions, I just can't stray from the price range of the Borg Warners. The cheaper, the better (but no eBay junk).

Also just wondering what luck you guys have had with running converters that were set up for bigger cam blower cars on your turbo setups? I JUST had my Vigilante 9.5" converter cut, cleaned and restalled for the blower setup ( 236/244 112 LSA cam in the same 396 above with a D1 procharger). It would suck to have to spend money to ship it back and have it restalled again for the turbos. Wondering how much it'll hurt me if I just run it as is.

thanks

A max of 700hp, and you want 13-1400hp worth of turbo ?

A pair of these would get you there and spool a hell of a lot faster

Or cheaper cast units.

Agreed. If that's all the power you are wanting to make, you are way over shooting with those turbos.

Packaging two of those is not very easy, either. I have two laying around and they are a good size turbo.

Smaller will be easier to fit (and maybe cheaper) so I am all in for that! I honestly haven't seen many BW S300 series setups making over 600rwhp....not that they can't, I just haven't seen any good setups to get an idea from.

What do you guys think for sizing on the 396? On that S200, what AR should I be looking at? I found a 1.22 A/R model for sale from RovoSpeed on eBay for $550 each shipped which is great for my budget.

I am open for any options on what turbos to go with for this setup providing that they

A) are as cheap as possible...ideally something that can be had in the $500-$600 price range if I shop hard enough.

B) good quality. Something like BW with a good reputation for reliability

C) will make the 700rwhp I am looking to make

Heads should flow in the 290cfm range at 600lift. I am probably limited to building the headers with the primaries aiming straight up into the turbo flange right above the valve cover due to packaging concerns so there won't be much of a collector on it, if the makes any difference.

Thanks for the replies!

I should probably add that I would normally do a lot more research on a topic like this before diving in. I know a bit about blowers but I am brand new to turbos. I don't like the idea of buying something without having the knowledge to size it/spec it out myself, but there is just such a big learning curve with learning about turbine size/AR etc... and I am in a huge rush to put this setup together before summer. It hurts me to do it, but I think I better leave the turbo sizing in the hands of guys who know a lot more about it than me and I appreciate all of your help!
