This fella assisted me some this weekend by hanging out...
Holley 302-2 pan ready to go...
Used tim's valve spring tool that I found on the site to install my new springs and it went very smooth
Next up I will get my dirty dingo sliders on and start test fitting the engine... after that things should move well as budget allows
Still need to buy
Torque converter
Figure out radiator
bosch 044 fuel pump or?
boost control? manual/electronic hmm

So I went the boneyard Saturday with a good friend and ended up picking some good odds and ends.
I got a 2004 Tahoe drive by wire pedal, tac module, and harness for about 30 bucks. Also got a 2nd Tac module included in that. It is the 059 tac module so I believe it should work with my green blue computer and dbw throttle body.
Also found some misc bolts, extra thermostat, and a steam port setup off the front of a tahoe. I am going to try and make this work for tying in my front/rear steam ports on the cheap.

Which flex joint did you get? You want to make sure that it doesn't have the mesh on the inside. If does, you want to swap it out now. I unknowingly had one installed in my kit, it blew out. I got lucky and the wastegate caught it instead of the turbo. Also, why didn't you use mandrel bent tubing instead of the crush bent? Good work thus far. I thought I remembered your old Nova. You came and looked at my Chevelle a while back. I'm still going at that one!

For the flex joint I went with a Vibrant 60804 specifically with that in mind. There is a stainless inside lining preventing a blowout of mesh. Also went with a Vibrant piece on the wastegate flex joint.
I used the crush bent because it was $7.00 at Pep Boys....
This is all a learning experience for me and if I have to re work the hotside crossover, I will later on.
I am waiting on funds to allow for some big purchases while doing some odds and ends on the project.

I used a stock style $160 radiator from Jegs, normal drivers side inlet passengers side outlet along with a straight water neck from jegs. Im also running an LS7 water pump with a drivers side outlet. If you go this route and need hoses, I can give you part number of hoses that'll fit and only need to be shortened. No spliced hoses. Let me know when you get there.
Teamwork always helps, even an extra set of the tiny hands for those tight spots lol. My son was just born 3/31/16 and can't wait to have him out with my on the car too

So I have been sidetracked with some honey do list stuff and an audi project eating up funds, but I have made progress
Got my siemens deka injectors installed with spacers and longer bolts from lowes
decided to go with an atp z 270 flexplate that is budget minded and has an 11.5 bolt circle to match my th400 converter... its not ideal, but it will work for now
used some scrap plate and adapted a mount for the tahoe pedal drive by wire
added a th400 kickdown switch and an adjustable tab
got it mounted and it is comfortable... I am 6'3

I ended up using dirty dingo sliders with moroso solid mounts 62530 ...
Got the engine in, bolted to trans, and adjusted the crossmember a bit.
I will need to re-do my practice crossover made from pep boys off the shelf stuff and get it tighter underneath. I will also need to re-think my wastegate positioning.

yes it is! lately i have been telling people to not even touch the 044 too many issues and copies they all seem bad, the AEM is the real MVP
recently had a car that quit at like 450whp with the 044
guy swapped in a AEM and we went strait to 620 issue free on all the same stuff just different pump.

those aem 380 pumps kick ***. swapped to one from my 044 when I went e85. it will keep solid afr's to about 15# boost. don't know how much power that is but I ran 10.15@ 135 mph on 12# boost last weekend. so enuff power to go well into the 9s on one pump on e85. where my 044 was out by 10-11 # boost.
for the money its the best pump ive seen.

Been slowly making progress as time allows
Got my accessories on and used Dayco belt #5060930
Had to order an adapter for the old oil sending unit 16mm X 1.5 to adapt it for the turbo oil feed. Couldn't find this local... Autometer #2268
Now I am working on re-doing my crossover in 2.25 versus previous 2.5.... This is my first mig welding project and I seem to be getting good penetration, but semi sloppy welds.

Crossover is tucked up under everything much better than before... there will be a few challenging bends/cuts (for me) that I will have to make from here on out, but it should go ok...
