Default Intercooler help...

So with my current 408/ET240/Procharger build I am thinking a larger IC is in order.

What do you guys recomend? I have a fair amount of space in the GTO. But what sizes are most guys running making 750+rwhp? I am not trying to spend a ton of money and realize some guys have had some good luck with the OBX ICs. So I am open to suggestions! So lets hear them?

How much available space do you have in there that you can get good airflow to/from? The GTO I looked at seemed pretty tight.

I can probably fit something 30" long and 3-3.5" thick. The height of the opening on the front end is probbaly only like 6-8" though

We see the inlet air temps staying cool with a customer supplied OBX 31 x 12 x 3 at 700 rwhp, so I don't see you having a problem with one. You'll have to measure to see if you can get a 31" wide intercooler in the GTO. Bob

Mick, make sure you are comparing apples with apples. The core is where the heat transfer is taking place, so that is vital. The overall dimensions don't tell you anything except fitment issues. Some of these intercoolers are only 6" tall at the core.

For my 66 Mustang, I ended up buying a HUGE ebay cooler that would handle plenty of airflow for my 408W + ATI D2. Notching a valance on that car has been necessary.

What is the core size of the intercooler that came w/ your ATI?

T-day: no, I don't consider a 24" x 11" x 3" core all that large. The overall size is not the key, but what is the size of the core. Some of them that have a 12" dimension are actually just a 6" tall core, with inlet/outlet top & bottom which each add 3" of height. A 6" height looks small to me...that's just an example. What is the size of the core that you have? Don't measure the end tanks.
