Default Stock Ls1 And P1-sc Procharger

Hey guy's,

I'm relatively new here at LS1tech. I just sold a major effort Pro-Touring 69 hard top Camaro project and am now the owner of a 63 000 miles all original Convertible 1969 (again!) Camaro. The car has been stored since '82 and has had 1 repaint in '78. Its a real survivor!!!

I already have a '98 LS1 in very good shape (35 000miles) out of a Camaro (only sad part is it came with a 4L60....I need a 6 speed) and i'm getting ready to put it in this winter. (i'm enjoying the car a bit before tearing it down!)

I'm REALLY interested in bolting a Procharger P1 or D1 on it as the first mod (full exhaust of course) and am thinking i would upgrade from there. My thinking is that it (supercharger) can be tamed down to run nicely on the street on my stk engine and i'll already have it when i build up and want to crank it up.

What hp figures can i expect to see with say a P1 and maybe an intercooler?

would a cam help? (being a pro street guy for years i definetely need an idle to rattle my theet!)

Any other suggestions?

I want to build the car on the rough, then, when everything is together i'll blow it abart for detailing.

Thanks for any advices you may have!

Procharger P1SC will full exhaust will net over 500 rwhp all day and night. I would go with a D1SC because you can get more boost out of the D1SC. Get with Bob at EPP. He has the best prices/customer service on Prochargers. Link for his website is in my sig.

No offense, but why would you do this to an all original 69 camaro? Why not find a less desireable one and do it to that.

I have to agree with locker - I wouldn't mess with an almost numbers matching car. It is your car in the end however!

To answer your question, I'm sure you could get 500 crank really easily.

Im not positive but I believe the 98 blocks had oiling issues thatthe others did not so if your looking for a 6-speed you might be better off selling the 98 with the 4l60 auto and finidng a 99+ block with the t56. The ds1c would be the best choice IMO just incase you go with a forged shortblock in the future.

I agree with the others, start out with a D-1SC. 8 psi of boost on the stock bottom end with a good tune will be just fine, and we normally see an additional 140 rwhp with 8 psi. Check out the idle sound clips of the Camaro SS with the STS turbo in the project car section of my website. We have used that camshaft profile on quite a few cars with excellent results, and it has a great musclecar sound to it. Bob
