Default Bob, and everyone else, please help me pick between these 2 cams!!!

Im starting my forged 346 buildup dangerously soon now and ive got to pick a cam once and for all, I will be running a d1sc with 14 to 16 psi with stage 2 patriot lq9 heads. Im stuck between these 2 camshafts, lpe gt 2-3 (.207/.220 .571/.578 118.5 cl) or epp comp cam grind (.232/.240 .595/.608 115 lsa) I know the comp grind will have a crazy cool sound, but how difficult will it be to tune? how streetable is it? the most important million dollar question is how much more hp an tq will the larger cam make over the gt 2-3 and how is the power band on both? please give some suggestions cause im going f---ing crazy!

from these two, i would say lpe gt2-3. i like my 216/224 .585/.585 114+2 myself, but that lpe is a strong piece. the other cam is to big.

We've never done a direct hp and torque comparison between the two cams, but our larger blower cam that appears to be too big actually works very well, and has plenty of mid range power and torque. We have used this cam in many cars, both turbo and with ATI ProChargers.

We have it in a local guys Camaro along with an ATI ProCharger, and it pulls really hard. We used it in a customer's Camaro from Virginia as well. We built him an iron block 6.0L and installed an ATI ProCharger. It was impressive as well.
Anyone who says this cam is too big needs to ride in one of these cars that has it. Bob

Bob, if you had to guess, what do you think the hp/tq benifit would be with the larger cam? are you talking like 10 hp or are you talking like 40 or more hp? if I was only going to gain like 10 or so hp I think I would stay with the smaller cam just for streetability and the fact that im going to blow the tires off the car with either cam anyways

The gt2-3 is about as stockish idle as you can get. There is zero chop to it, but its usualy worth about 20-30hp on a FI car.

Our blower cam actually works great in NA cars, we have a customer with a 382 we built who put down 460ish rwhp.

The gt2-3 works well for FI cars from our testing. Our blower cam is great for a max effort street car application, with a 346 and a d1sc you will be maxed around 16-18psi with either cam.

A larger duration camshaft isnt for most people, for a easy 30hp vs stock cam we ususaly reccomend the gt2-3 for people who dont want a choppy cam.

Not real sure, it would only be an educated guess. Bob

i USE THE EPP CAM AND LOVE IT !!! iIt has a wicked chopp and easy driv to it. I also love the mid range and high pull of this cam. I pulled 490 hp with 5.5 psi on a afr fix and idle fix. Mike (vengence) added no timing to its set at 15 deg. pulles like a freight train. I chose this cam because I like the way it sounded and it work in a 382 with 15 psi I think hes at 700+ I cant wait to turn it up!!!
