NEED HELP! Welding exhaust while turbo is on the car??
This is for an STS kit and I'm having some exhaust leaks now as I'm trying to finish up for my tune !
I can tell that it's leaking at the over-the-axle connection and it's really leaking at the flange...see pic. It's where the I-pipe connects to the pipe that goes into the exhaust housing. I don't see any condensation coming from the Y-pipe/I-pipe connection, but it very well could be and I can't see it. As you know, it's really important not to have any leaks as it will kill my spool time.
Would it be ok for me to drive it to a muffler shop and have them weld up a couple spots while the turbo is on the car? I don't want any metal to get into the exhust piping and thus going into the turbo. So, that's the big question...can it be welded on the car without hurting the turbo? Thanks fellas.

When I had my turbo welded on I just duct tapped the hole up on the turbo while is was getting welded. After weld I took it off started the car to clear and crap and reinstalled it.

If the flange is leaking, have it machined flat. Its the only reliable way to get it sealed.

Well then, now we're talking about undoing most everything I've already done...I can't go through that again !!
It's time for a little fabrication this week!
