1/8 times on TRUE radial tires
well i entered a street car shoot out this past weekend and had a blast...
there were 2 races in one i won the other i made it to the finals...
the rules are pretty much true radial tires -no DR's or compitition tires...
best pass was on whatever was on the car out of the factory and on the snowflake rims in back and in front...
60' 1.85
1/8 7.57
1/8 mph 97
it was very fun... i couldnt open the throttle all the way till the bottom of 3rd gear in my th350...

Werd.
They have a class like that here, the guy who set it up (with his slow POS car) was trying to get me to race in it. Right, let me run my car which I have dumped easliy $45K into on some cheap *** radials to compete with some hillbillies in their farm trucks, so I can either lose it and hit a wall or get hit by another guy doing the same thing. We were at a big car show when he approached me, I called him an idiot and said it was by far the dumbest class I've ever heard of. He didn't know what to say. How many people have to die on 10.5" or DR classes trying to go too fast before we start to think maybe guys tubbed cars for a reason? **** it, I'll keep my car, thanks. I'll be the guy running a solid 1.5 seconds faster in the 1/8 than anyone in that class.

well, ill just say that the street radial class is the most competitive class in that series. no one has died or even come close to crashing in it. besides, ITS ******* DRAG RACING!!!!!! IT IS DANGEROUS!!!! thats why everone likes it.
there is no farm trucks in that class, most are VERY nice cars. there is two firebirds that i am sure are as nice or nicer that your car, that run in that class every race.
i will probally race in the street radial class when my car is finished. there is a few of them running some 6 second 1/8th miles on street radials. 275 class is in the 5.80-6.0 range and the outlaw radial class better had be bringing something in the 5's.......
it isnt always the car with the most power that wins in this class is what makes it fun. most of the time too much power will work against you.

I remember an LS1 oldtimer, GeorgeC, who had a strong NA combo, used to run high 9's like six years ago... Once he ran street tires on the car, and went 11.2 or something. He said it spun most of the track... Sounds like danger Will Robinson.

BTW, the fastest car in the true radial class here has been 8.0X. If memory serves that car runs low 10's in the 1/4 on real tires. Thats ******* dumb.
I actually thought about racing my stock C5 in the class, its slow and doesn't need sticky tires, but I can't, and neither can my buddy with the 2005 Saleen, because the rules state the tire treadware rating has to be better than 300. Thats ******* snow tires. Can't even run the stock tires on our cars. Tell me thats not gay.
To the guys saying drag racing is dangerous: True, but why invite more danger? Whats next, blindfolded racing? How about racing in reverse? Those are gauranteed crowd pleasers!
I've driven all my cars from stock 13 second ET's to low 10's, never had an incident that even made me nervous. My ***** built right and on a drag radial, like it should be. If you need the "thrill" of trying to not hit a wall on a ******* straight track, try the demo derby.

wow.... if you dont like this kind of racing thats fine.... but dont fill my thread with JUST comments... its not as dangerous as you may think since its a 1/8 and i get up to around 100mph.... the deal is easing into the gas not cramming it to the floor.... i cant put it on the wood till the bottom of 3rd gear.... next race will be much more fun though with better suspension and better true radials...
