Default Looking for a good d/d setup for my procharged 408

I am having some issues on deciding a few things on my new build and wondering if I can get some input from everyone. First I have a set of AFR 205 heads that I have been debating on whether or not I should send them in to tony and have him open up the chambers for the larger bore and do some port work or go with a set of ported 317 castings that I have.
What do you guys think? I also am looking for a good cam to go with this setup I have a tr224 114 cam now that worked great for my little motor but Im not sure if it would work well on the 408, I would guess that it would make the motor fall off at a lower rpm. I really just dont want a big a$$ cam but I want that big power.
Any help or suggestions would be great. If some of you have similar setups could you please post numbers, heads, and cam.
Thanks,
Brian

Our blower cam is working great in my 408, the cam is shown here.

the nice thing about the afr heads are the thick deck which is important on an fi motor especially in high boost situations. if its a dd I wouldent go too crazy with a cam, is 20 hp really going to be worth a car thats a bitch to get tuned right, lowsy idle, and more potential for overheating? i guess thats something you will have to figure out for yourself. you dideent mention what trans your running, you might want to let people in on that. good luck! give Bob a call at EPP and ask him what he thinks, he will give you an honest opinion without any kind of pushey sales bullshit

Bob what kind of power are you seeing with that cam, and how about the tourque curve. Also what would you recomend with the head situation AFR's or ported 317's.
Thanks
Brian

Quite a few people our running this cam, KP being one of them. My car ran a 9.12 with a converter that is slipping and not holding the power, and KP has gotten into the 8's with his T/A.
As was mentioned above my post, the AFR's have a much thicker deck surface, I'd stay with them as they'll allow you to run more boost without having head gasket problems. Bob
