Default Turbo Truck 11.29

I taught I would share this here, Allen Nelson from Nelson Performance ran my truck at SAR this past Saturday and this where the results.

First run with no boost off the line, getting use to the transbrake.

60' - 1.707
330ft- 4.8346
1/8et- 7.4210
1/8mph- 95.70
1000et - 9.6226

1/4et - 11.4726
1/4mph- 124.20

Here is the video of the run. http://www.lsxvideo.com/view_video.p...55d38e6d163e82

After that run the tech guys got after him for not having a cage but still let him run just the 1/8 mile, he ran the 1/4 since it was going to be the last run and this where the results with 3psi off the line.

60' - 1.6873
330ft - 4.7341
1/8et - 7.2536
1/8mph- 97.17
1000et - 9.4420

1/4et - 11.2922
1/4mph - 124.21

And the video. http://www.lsxvideo.com/view_video.p...ype=&category=

I just got the truck back, so I had a question for you guys. What is a good amount of boost to get off the line? The truck is set at 11psi right now.

Mods are on my sig.

Thanks,

JJ

...... cant answer you question, but damn, those are some good e.t's especially with the 60ft. Not sure if its becuase its a truck, but if you cut those 60ft's down, your in the 10's for sure.

First to answer your question - As much boost as the chassis, suspension, tires and track can hold. Start easing up on the boost at launch until you find your "sweet" spot. With a turbo you don't have to worry so much about it as it is going to breath well on the other end. If you can get your 60-ft. times into the mid to low 1.5's that alone should put you right into the 10's without putting too much stress on the chassis being that it is not tied together yet as stated by it not having a cage as of yet.

On another note BIG UPS on the truck. I love seeing hot rod trucks. Personally I have a SWB Hemi single cab with a little gas but it isn't anywhere near as fast as that monster you have there. Good luck and congrats!!!

Nice looking truck and those are some damn nice track numbers, especially since it sounds like they were shakedown runs.

JJ, I leave the line with about 7 lbs of boost. My short times are 1.6x with a race weight of 4500 lbs. My suspension is stock and I run 10.5 slicks.

I leave with my Silverado AWD truck at 12psi with a Harlan two step at 2500 with the foot brake(3500 stall). My short times are normally low 1.7's with Kumho 20's on stock SS rims at 5500# truck plus my 200#. My best et to date is 11.47.

That truck looks way cool down low like that, do you have any pictures of it on the ground?

The guy who did the suspension told me it could do a weelie and everything should be ok, he builts cars from the ground up which have ran 7's in the 1/4, he does awesome jobs.

So if i have it set at 11psi could I launch at that psi? I plan on getting the hang of it, I'll try to go up to 6 or 8.

Here are some pics, and thanks for the good coments.

Should I get a two step? How do they work? I just got a FLT 80-e Level 5 with a transbrake, would you recommend the Harlan two step, I don't know much about this things but someone told me they are use only on manual transmission.

BTW Congrats on your times they are awseome for a bigger truck.

You've got one badass truck. You can use a two step on an automatic, look at the synergy two step or the lingenfelter two step.

Can a big V-b turbo diesel motor be fitted into a smaller truck, like the s-10, or dakota, or maybe the chevy 1500?

i think that would be sweet to shoe horn a 600hp\trq motor into something like that.

More or less it cuts ignition @ a programmer rpm. So when you launch you floor the car, and @ what ever you have it programmed at ie 3800 rpm it will cut ignition.

WIth the car floored the rpm's will sit right around the 3800 rpm's and you will be building boost off the line. Launch, the 2 step goes off, and the car now goes to its normal rev limiter. They allow you to be alot more consistent off the line, because in a turbo car you have to throttle the rpms to build boost otherwise.
