Default What gear for me?

I've gotta re-do the rear end, figured I might as well get a gear more suited to the combo. I have 3.73's now, I'm getting a spool so I will need to set up gears anyway. I was thinking 3.42's?

740 RWHP
3500-3600 lbs race weight
28" tires (slicks and DR's)
4L60E, may change to a TH400
Shift at 6500 max
3600 stall

I just don't wanna run out of room at the end of the track. If I get a TH400 I'll get a F1A blower and shoot for 850+ RWHP.

When I was blower I ran 144mph with 3.50's at 3500 raceweight. I shifted at 7000 but I had less motor than you I have a 348ci. I would run 3.42/3.50/3.55.

I agree, sounds like the 3.42/3.50 are the best all round. Thats what I currently will be running, I might opt for the 3.25's when I order my aftermarket rear.

I forget what the internal gear ratios of the TH400 are, but most people run something in the 3.50ish range. If you do try to shoot for 850+ rwhp, I would think about running something lower in the 3.10ish range.
