Mild Vs. Stainless
Looking at building a set of headers for a friend doing a budget setup, I know stainless is recommended but has anyone gotten away with mild steel? Ive got full access to a tig welder and all nessicary tools for good quaility headers, just didnt know if it could be done without them failing. I do plan on running a support rod from the turbo flange to the header flange for support as well as notching a cut between header port, both of which are suppost to help prevent cracking.

Personal prefrence. I like the looks of the Stainless after a few heat cycles. Th ewrap helps with engine bay heat. I only coat mild steel hot side components just for the rust preventative factor.

So basically just leave the stainless alone =). I need to wrap the driver side areas because I do not want to melt anything. The rest of it I will leave it alone.
I can basically just spray paint the cold side to stop it from rusting and should be fine right?
