Default Possible twin build - Turbocharger's physical size

The car: 1971 VW bug, see sig for link to a bunch of pictures

Stats: 5.3l, th350 trans, 3.00 rear gear ford 9", approx 2500lb

So I have been thinking alot lately about turbocharging my bug. My goal is to have more low end power, as the rev limiter is currently set at 5500rpm and with my current rear gears it spends most of its time between 1000-3500rpm. Another 100hp or so would be perfect.

The problem is I have no phsyical room to put a single turbo, rear mount twins or rear mount single is also impossible. I have been thinking about possible putting a turbo off each header flange with the compressor facing towards the block having the turbine/compressor shaft prependicular to the engine.

Here are a few pictures so you can see the amount of room I am working with.

I have no idea what kind of turbo would be an appropriate size (ford 2.3l turbos? or something equivalent). What I really need to know is the phsyical size of turbo that would possible work, liek the overall length, turbine diameter, compressor diameter...

This should help me either continue with this idea, or lay it to rest

A t3/t04 hybrid is relatively small... Like maybe 10" across and no more than 10 in thick...

You acn pick them up on ebay for like 150 bucks.. brand new!

I would most assuredly advise against a new turbo on ebay for 150.00, they are chinese and are craptastically horrible. You can call me up tomorrow 252-562-3899, I have a few ideas and options for you.

Also, is this going to be a street only car or drag only or both?

If its gonna be drag only you could put them in the car or raise the floor board on the passenger side, creating an enclosure for them.

The only reason I recommended those is so he could get it mocked up..

If it works out, You def. need to get a nice turbo..

I bought 2 off ebay, JUST for mock up purposes
