Default Multiple charge pipes for more flow? What are the downsides?

My builder thinks he can fit 3x1.5" pipes easier than 2x2.5" or 1x3". 3x1.5" pipes in my car while keeping good ground clearance. I'm wondering what if any downside would be to doing it this way. 3x1.75" pipes have a 14.1" total cross section vs a 9.4" for a single 3". The goal is to get my air velocity down in the piping before the intercooler since it's pushing around 450ft/sec right now.

I'm currently running 2.5" and 2.25" piping before the intercooler and 3" after the i/c.

well you will have more surface area so restriction might be higher. but as you are running much grater cross sectional area the problem should be reduced.

erm all the conectors could be a problem!

cant wait to see it on the car thats for sure!

Any advantage of extra cross section will be out weighed by the deduction of air flow caused by the turbulence of splitting and merging the air flow. It is proven that a single large intercooler is much more efficient than multiple smaller ones.

I would like to know also. My set up is all differnt sizes. 2 1/2 from the turbo to the charge pipe 2 1/2 to 3 inch on the intercooler, 3 inch to a 4 inch pipe to the throttle body. I know spool got more laggy from 3,200 to 3,800 befor full boost. Also went lean on the dyno at the same 9 psi at 4k. But pick up about 150 in tq from 3,100 to 4K plus. Hp had a slow rise to 500 hp at 4k. So I guess it work out. Oh yeah I did go with a victor jr and elbow. so its more factors on why it ran lean, and pick up over the fast90.
