BBC Ignition
basically my setup will consists of a 496 BBC and a 94MM Percision Turbo with an air to water intercooler. i was wounder if just sticking with a distributor and coil is worth it or switching up to something more along the lines of a magneto or if theres a coil over plug(like the lsx) that i can do. if you have pics of your setups post um up to please.

yeah i figured the magneto was beyond drastic. my dads running a mag44 his monster truck but hes running a blown 572 on alcohal. i planning on trying to run pump gas or 114 leaded or something along those lines but being thats its a forced induction motor is it better to use a crank trigger or is better to stick with your traditional distributor or anyone know anything aobut a coil over plug setup?

go for the crank trigger. its more accurate. not saying that a distributor pickup isnt but once you start making more and more power it becomes more and more critical for that ignition system not to skip a beat. plus its not going to break the bank either at a whopping $250-$300

well with efi you need to use the dist as a cam sync, you can use a standard dist and grind all but 1 of the teeth off of the reluctor,or you can use a frt mount dist with a magnetic pickup.then you use the crank trigger as just that a crank trigger.that is the way it is on my car-with a fast ecu msd 7531 ignition and the hvc 2 coil-no issues what so ever

yeah thats basically what i was asking is if i should use a front mount or typical rear mount. if i go with the front mount what do i do about the hole where the distributor usually goes. stupid questions because i should nkow this but i have never run a crank trigger before.

I have a drysump on my car,Phil has a drysump on his car as well.I know a ton of guys that run external pump wet sumps.I dont think it really matters as far as oiling as long as you use quality parts. If you run a 5 stage dry sump it will save you from having to put on a vacuum pump, which is a must on a wet sump system
