Supercharger Belt advice please
Hi guys, firstly please go easy with me, as this is my first supercharged motor after years of turbo's.
My car is a Holden Commodore. It basically has the same running gear as a 2004 Pontiac GTO. The LS1 is fitted with a Vortech V2 SQ Supercharger which is driven from the Power Steering. I am about to raise the boost from 7 psi to 9 psi which I have been told is on the limits of the 6-Rib serpentine belt. The car currently uses Gates Micro-V XF belt 6PK 2550mm long.
My question is, is it possible to upgrade the belt or pulley & belt? I can buy a CAPA 10-rib crank drive kit but that shipped is going to be approx $2300-$2500. What I really want to know is if there is a more financially viable alternative to this still using the Power Steering to drive the SC. Long term I will possibly raise the boost to 11-12 psi.
Many thanks
