Fuel system failureS?
Simple question, yet might be too broad.
How frequent do fuel systems fail? Or even better, how frequent to fuel pumps fail.
Im asking this question, because I would like to assess the risks of running dual pumps. If one goes one a lean mixture at high boost would destroy the engine in an instant.
Im guessing one BIG pump is a much better approach, having a vehicle that does not run as an indication of a pump failure is much better than ending up with a blown-up engine.
Ideas?

Fuel pumps don't always fail outright. In that case, the second pump in a dual setup would be nice insurance. If a single pump started failing and was not keeping pressure up, your motor would be just as fubar'd.

I've built a few hundred double pump kits per year over the past few years & have yet to see a pump failure. A lot of it has to do with how you build them & the quality of parts involved.
A big single can drop in output as well giving the same lean results.
There is no substitute for watching your fuel pressure gauge.
