Return fitting questions
Hey all,
I read on here that when running a return, you need a 5/16" GM quick disconnect fitting. Now, I removed the stock plastic line and chose to run my new line all the way back to the tank. So, I need the female fitting to go onto the tank, not the male fitting to go to the plastic line.
I bought a 5/16" fitting, but it didn't fit. It fits on the evap line without any issue, but it does not fit on the return. What do I need? 3/8"? I've read that the feed is 3/8", and they appear to be the same size.
The car is a 2002, btw.
Also, what size NPT plug is needed for the T-block? 1/4" or 3/8"?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks, Lonnie. I went back into the garage and looked at the plastic line we removed. It's clearly bigger on one side than the other. Therefore, I think the source of confusion was that I was reading about people using a 5/16" male quick connect fitting to connect to the stock plastic line going up to the tank. However, if you want to run your own line all the way up to the tank, then you need a 3/8" female quick connect fitting.
So, another $35 wasted on wrong parts that are going to be next to impossible to resell and will end up in the trash after a while... typical.

Yes - the feed/return are 3/8" quick disconnect fittings on the top of the tank. Been there, done that.
Also, the fitting to correctly block off the T in the back isn't NPT - it is actually metric with an o-ring. If you search around in this section, I listed the correct part number and a picture of what it looks like.
People do use 1/4" NPT plugs with success, but that isn't what is supposed to be in there.

From what I remember, the feed and return both use a 3/8" quick connect fitting, but the stock plastic return line is slightly smaller than the stock plastic feed line. That must be where the confusion comes in as to it being a 5/16". I'll check when I get home later and post up if I'm wrong.
