MAP Sense to fuel tank?
OK. I have had my '98 TA for a few months now. I had a clunk and the fuel gage was wacky so I jacked it up and took a look. The clunk was the SLP torque arn bushing that was 1/2 gone. The fuel gage issue was the purple sending unit wire that was damaged probably when the Moser 12 bolt was installed. The wire was twisted together and had black electrical tape wrapped around it. Could have been easily repaired correctly with a crimp and seal connector. Anyways, my question is about another wire that was damaged. I think it was orange with a black trace. The service manual said it was the MAP sense signal. What does this mean? It was also twisted, on both ends, and had electrical tape on it. Both ends were corroded. I got a new weatherpack terminal and repared it from the connector to the plug that goes to the body. My question is what is this signal for? Does it control fuel pump voltage based on manifold pressure? Or is it just a reference? I thought my car had the fuel regulator under the hood. Is it in the fuel tank? The car was running funny. Sometimes it ran hard and scared the **** out of me Other times it was sluggish and not so fast. Any ideas?

Apparently this is a different signal. The Dark grey wire that I also had to repair is for the fuel tank pressure. The orange wire with the black trace says it is the Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor return signal. Any thoughts?
