To return or not to return...
First off, thanx to all who help us newbs out-- we appreciate it :]
I'm putting an LQ4 into a 68 el camino. Dart heads, TS 228R, long tubes, pro flo XT intake, 39# injectors, backed by a 3000 stalled 4L80E, then into a 9" with 3.50 gears.
My goal is 420 whp. I got myself a spectra premium baffled el camino tank with an intank pump, and I'm now ready to run my lines. What I can't figure out is whether to put the filter/regulator back by the tank and have just one -8 or -6 feed line to the rails with no return,
OR run filtered full pressure up to one rail, connect it to the other, then regulate it out of the second rail and send it back to the tank.
NOTE: I plan on more power in the future: I'd like to build this system to support 550+ whp.
I've read about people running both these setups.
What should I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is always better to regulate at the engine.
If you are going over 550rwhp, I would gusee you are going nitrous or forced induction. Under these circumstances, I would go with a front mount regulator for best pressure control.
I have custom line kits, complete with all fittings, rails, regulator & filter if you are interested.

What has to be done to the stock fuel system to do away with the return? I'm still running a stock fuel system and building an 11 second project, full bolt-on, gears, major weight reduction and completely stock internals.
I'd like to remove the return. Every pound adds up. Someone inform me what has to be done.
Thx in advance

Thanx for the advice Lonnie,
I will regulate it at the motor. After talking it out with a few friends and 2 local shops, I think I'll do -8 to the rails, then -6 back. Is a Walbro 255 sufficient to feed 550 whp thru a -8 line? or do I need something more like a Walbro 340?
