Default fuel pump wiring issues

i have the racetronix in tank setup with the walboro 255 pump and upgraded wiring harness.

the L shaped plug on the top of the fuel pump assembly is stock, the wiring from the top of the fuel pump assembly to the fuel pump itself is stock as well. i have twice now burned up the L shaped plug that is on the top of the fuel pump assembly. the wiring inside is also burned up to the point where the pin free floats due to the plastic being warped and melted...

what would cause this?

The electrical pins are not thick enough to handle the amps, that is the weak point in the circuit. Not sure what car you have, but the Delphi packard 2x2 connectors are notorious for this issue, so they replaced it with a more robust 1x4 connector. I think Racetronix has an upgrade that should help you out.

its a 99 camaro z28. thanks! that is kinda what i figured. wiring seems to be fine other than those weak points. so it isn't necessarily a bad fuel pump or anything? just these wiring points are weak. i've read up that even factory GM cars have had this issue.

also any idea on part numbers or what i should look for to get the upgraded parts?
