Default Wiring help for Second Pump

I need help with specifics, lets just say wiring for dummies. I am going to use a relay and a switch that will be manually triggered.

Can I do this and everything work properly:

Fuesable wire from battery to a switch, from switch to relay, from relay to pump. I know that a ground needs to run from relay to car, what about the negative wire from the pump?

How exactly do I wire the relay.

Also Do I have to run a relay if I run the power from the battery to the switch?

Thanks in advance.

I would probably use 10-12 gauge wire for the fuel pump positive wire to the relay(87) and also 10-12 from the battery + or alternator stud to the relay(30). Pump ground wire just ground it to a good known ground.

hope this helps.

You can use something like the fuse tap in the link below to one of the fuses in the fuse box on the side of the dash. You just want to make sure you are using a circuit that only gets power with the key in the run position. You can also pull knee panel on the dash right beneath the steering column and tap a pink wire those get power when the key is in the run position.

Hey dopefed just wanted to say thanks very much. You made this very simple and have helped us cure our fuel pressure problem. We know do not drop below 60psi at all.

No prob. I just received my 2nd pump a couple of days ago. I'm going to be doing the same thing and having the pump turn on when i power either nitrous kit.
