Fuel pump question.

Fuel pump question.
Down and dirty... What is needed to make a V8 fuel pump work on a V6 car?
I have the possibly of picking up a 2000 V6 firebird with a bad fuel pump. The car will stay a V6 for a yr or so until I return from deployment. Then I'm planning building a boosted 5.3L. So I don't want to buy pumps twice.
So can I get away with buying a Walbro and fuel pressure regulator and go or is there more to it?
Thanks,
Ken

I don't know what pumps they put in a V6, but yes. Only question is are you going to re-do the entire feed & return? If yes, then you won't have to worry about the in-tank regulator messing with you. If no, well...remove it and just return the line to the tank.
Fuel system: pump in tank, line to fuel rail, line out of fuel rail to pressure regulator, out of regulator back to tank (essentially). All excess bleeds off
