Default Single inlet fuel rail to factory return system

I have a 97 Z that had a LS1 conversion, the old motor had a return style fuel rail but my 04 LS1 has a single line without return provision. The factory fuel lines have the return and reference line still in the car. What is the best method to move forward. Should I install a regulator and utilize the return and reference line or can I hook up the supply side and just do away with the return and reference.
Motor is an LS1 with Z06 heads and cam factory rails with 60lb injectors auto trans. Looking at getting it up and running now but will be getting into serious horsepower build later so if it pays to make the switch over now I will.
Thanx

Add a front mount regulator.

You cannot eliminate the return line as it is your only means of fuel pressure control.
