Exclamation fuel regulator? starting issues

Hi guys,

Basically what is going on is, the car is only having problems starting when it has under 1/2 tank of gas in it.

The car has 76k on it, I replaced my old fuel filter at 56k. Tried having a fuel pressure test done on it back in Oct. The mechanic tried starting her over 60 times and didnt have a single problem so the test could not be done. Prob because there was over 1/2 tank in it.

This weekend I replaced the fuel filter with a new AC Delco one, and also replaced the fuel pump relay a few months back. The car only runs BP or Shell 93 Octane.

So it was giving me problems all weekend because it was under 1/2 tank. My neighbor is also a mechanic and suggested cleaning the "fuel regulator"??

It was this sensor on the top right of the throttle body. I unplugged it, sprayed down with tb cleaner, put back in, it was extremely dirty. Car started right up, It started about 5 more times in the next 24 hours wo any problems. Then it started giving me trouble again.

Could it be this sensor is just bad? Has anyone experienced this before?

At first of course I thought it was my fuel pump, but the car only experiences this at start up. Drives 110% when running. And I would think if it was the pump, it would be done and would not start, but it starts fine on and off.

Could this be the idle control also maybe??

I really could use some good advice because I can't have this keep happening. Embarassing when it doesn't start lol

What else could it be? Something NOT fuel related???

I guess its the idle control sensor I am speaking of. Not the fuel regulator.
