Default fuel sock on AEM 320 pressing on bottom of bucket

Working on installing aem 320 lph fuel pump in my 06 gto. Noticed that the new fuel pump is about 3/8" longer but the plastic piece that connects the fuel sock is a touch shorter. What I noticed putting it back together is the sock seems to be pressed against the bottom of the bucket making me worried that it won't be able to get the fuel supply it needs. Heard a few people say they had these pumps die right away and wondering if that might be the reason. Are those socks designed to handle that or should I figure a way to provide more room for it.

I might be able to come up with another 1/8" without really cutting into where the pump mounts into the top of the bucket.
