Will 40 micron filter and in-tank filters cut it
Looking for real world experience from those that have used a 40 micron filter downstream of the fuel pump in fuel injected vehicles as opposed to a 10 micron.
I have dual 40 micron filters just before the fuel rails and an in tank filter sock on each walbro. 10 micron are recommended, but I would like to know if anyone has personally experienced anything BAD from using a larger than 10 micron filter??

It really depends on your injectors.
I've been running a pair of 40 microns pre-pumps ( 1 before each 044 ) for a few years now with the Siemens 660's. I've never had any issues.
But the likes of ID and some of the others seem to be much fussier and need no more than 10 microns.
if your filters are after the pumps, just stick 10 micron elements in them. It's cheap insurance and the filter bodies are already installed.

I am starting with Deka 80s on E85 and will upgrade if I need to down the road. The small filter housings I have are no name assemblies with bronze/brass type filter elements in them...so I dont think they offer other filter inserts. I also dont like the idea of anything but a metal mesh for filtering ethanol. The 10 micron filters are a "media" type filter which I believe is some sort of paper filter variant.
I think I will try them and see what happens.

The words small..and brass, shout totally unsuitable for EFI flow rates to me.
Aeromotive do 10micron microglass filters that are supposed to be suitable for all fuels.
Or I think some guys on here just use some big truck type spin on filters with their E85
