They can help some if you run the cleaner right after changing your fuel filter, otherwise all the 'cleaner' is doing is washing crap from the dirty filter through your fuel system.

if you dont keep using it, at least from what i know and can be wrong, it will leave a sticky residue on the injectors and if u dont use it all the time they will get nasty, id rather use something that cleaned it one time a year instead of every tank of gas

my understanding is that injector cleaner is pretty much a form of kerosene or tulene or variation of both mixed. even though their not all the same the chemicals are pretty similar between brands.
these chemicals are not bad to your motor and a can of cleaner ever 15-20k miles (depending on the gas you use)can only help your engine not hurt it.

I do know there is something out by 3M that I heard works really good, it taps onto the strainer valve on the fuel rail and u actually run the car off of it, I think its liek $13 a can from a GM dealer. Heard that works great.

It won't miracles so don't expect a "mechanic in a can" result. But a few of them do work. I've used Techron before with good results.

The best additive I have ever used is the NOS octane boster (Off road formula) I used it before I went to the track and I can honestly say my car felt more responsive. They advertise a 4 to 7 point increase in your octane and it helps clean injectors and valves. I have used to tecron fuel cleaners also in my other cars but I like the NOS

dont run shitty gas lol. from what i have heard, and this could be 100% false, maybe someone can correct me if im wrong. but last i heard with the new style fuel injectors it is not recommended to clean them out, they are "self flushing". kinda sounds weird but like i said i heard or read this somewhere. ive never flushed mine out in 50k miles, just run a top end cleaner

When I do a top engine cleaning with Seafoam I pour a bottle of Seafoam in the gas too. So far it hasnt hurt anything but at the same time I dont know that it helped either.
