Are injectors universal?

Are injectors universal? I was wondering if fuel injectors were universal? Will any injector plug into the fuel rail and wiring harness, or do I have to get injectors specifacally for an lsx motor?

There are several different sizes and plug styles. They are a pretty standard injector but even LSx trucks and LS2 styles are different from LS1-6 but ford injectors are the same go figure.
