Scanning software like Auto-Tap or EFILIVE running on a laptop and hooked via cable to the diagnostic port on your dashboard.
You run the program while driving the car, and the data will display things like fuel-trims, O2 sensor output, and misfires. Some software will tell you which cylinder is misfiring.
The wideband O2 sensor goes into one of your rear O2 sensor holes in the exhaust pipe. it hooks directly into a controller/display and when used properly will show your actual air/fuel ratio on the display while you drive.
This is considered basic troubleshooting, and you should find a shop that can do this.
