Default when using an external pump, Do you wire it to the factory wiring?

is there a guide on how to do it?
I am planning on doing a fuel cell and am not sure how this part works compared to the factory style unit.

I just installed my inline pump system. I was provided a relay, just buy a relay that can handle the pump...usually 30A , 20A relay might work. Grab power from the terminal post, fused before the relay, ground is simple...tec screw if nothing else, then for the turn on signal i pulled out the stock fuel pump relay and got my signal from there... see my pic. THen run the other side of the power to the pump and ground the pump back there somewhere...
