i have a 93 trans am and when the fuel pump says 1/4 it starts missing and acting like its out of gas. so i thoght the float kept getting stuck. wull i cut the hole in the top and checked it out and when it reads 1/4 its 1/4 in the tank but its not getting to the engine but only when its at 1/4 past that and its fine

The pump seals to the fuel bucket & draws from the tank in the LT1 cars.

If the seal between the pump & bucket is not good, it can suck the bucket dry & run out of fuel. Higher fuel levels cause the bucket to gravity fill easier & the problem may not show up until the level is low.
