Default Ring and Pinion help

Can someone explain to me why my stock 94 Formula has 11 teeth on the pinion and a 41 teeth ring?? Thats a 3.73 ratio! I bought the car from the original owner, and I replaced the factory gear which I thought was a 3.42, with 4.10s , the car even has the GU6 code for the 3.42s. I've counted the ring and pinion teeth about 5 times now. Someone help me to understand. Thanks in advance.

Well I don't know a whole hell of a lot about gears but I do know it just sounds like you had 3.73s lol. I mean, unless the calculations change somewhere before it gets to the wheels, you had 3.73s plain and simple. Are you sure you bought the car from the original owner? Did you ask them if they did any major repairs... like replace the rear end with one from a junkyard? Know what I mean? There's a million different ways 3.73s could have gotten in there. With an almost 15 year old car, certain RPO codes don't mean too much anymore.
