Default drive shaft differences

98-02 f body

say between an A4 to a T56? And do you need to change the drive shaft

length when you go from a 10 bolt to a 9in?

Yes there is a difference in the length.

You need to call one of the sponsors and get exactly what you need
Trust me if it is the wrong length you could be doing a trans rebuild or more

gee thats funny bc just the other weekend i took a steel driveshaft off a 2.73 geared auto car and put it on a 6 speed car and it fit like a charm. then the guy did 6200 clutch drops on slicks the next day. no problems yet.

The drive shaft is the same for automatic & manual used with a 10-bolt.
It is also the same with a Moser 12 bolt except for the Yoke ..

9 inch the drive shaft is 1 inch longer from center of u-joint to center of u-joint, Or the 2 drive shafts that I have for a 12-bolt and 9 inch are anyways..

this was an M6 car with a moser 9 inch. he still had the factory aluminum DS that came w his car. we switched it for a factory steel from an 00 273 auto car bc he was scared the aluminum would pop at the track the next day. he hasnt told me of any shifting problems or any other issues since the swap. it held up to several 6200 clutch drops with QTPs that were hard enough to bend all 10 rear wheel studs.

As has been posted, the nine inch requires a one inch longer driveshaft. Bob
