Measuring Pinion angle for Midwest Fab 9 inch
So right now Eric at Midwest Chassis and Performance is hard at work making my rear end for me. I am hoping to have it in a week or so. I want to do some before hand research on exactly how to measure and setup the pinion angle. I have read that most people say you should go with a -2 degree pinion angle. So my question is how do I measure the pinion angle and what equipment do I need to do it? Thanks in advance.

I am pretty familiar with the sticky's and didnt remember anything for pinion angle. I just looked through again and still didn't see anything for that. It has info about setting up gears as far as back lash and pinion depth, but I don't see pinion angle. If someone else sees it post up the link.
Also I will hit up Eric for how to do it but I like to get some as many opinions on it as well and see if there is another method that someone else has used that works better for one reason or another.

the sticky is in the suspension thread. and i set it by putting the angle finder on the torque arm bracket and that was it no drive shaft math and looking from the passenger side and set it. you will read that -2.5 is a good starting point but you will have to find that sweet spot for no vibration etc. good luck it takes a while sometimes to get that spot I just got done fighting with mine for a while to find a good spot cause it was effecting my shifting as well but she is good to go now

best way to do it is to use a small carpenter's square against the faceplate on the housing and measure the difference between the angle of the driveshaft and the perpendicular angle of the faceplate using the square. -1.5 to -2.0 degrees works well in these cars. you can use a magnetic angle finder or Craftsman has a descent digital level/angle finder for around 25.00. I have magnetic ones available with the rearends for $10.00.
