Default drain and fill 9 inch

what is the best way to drain and fill a ford 9inch with out a fill or drain hole.
i have the drivers side axle out to get a new seal pressed in and i was wanting to just drain and refill with new oil...

or can i just fill it up through the end of the housing?

and does any one know how much oil to put in.. thanks

The best way to drain the oil in a non drain plug equipped 9 inch rear is to remove the driveshaft and remove the (center section) third member.

You should have a fill plug on the side of the housing, and the oil level needs to be at the bottom of this fill hole.

It takes roughly 3-1/3 quarts of gear oil. Bob
