Are All Aftermarket Rears Louder Than Stock?
I'm inching closer to ordering a 12 bolt or 9". I had a nightmare problem 2 years ago with howling ring and pinions, and I don't want to go through that again. Word is that all these rears will make SOME noise over stock.
Is there a consensus on which make is the quietest? I want better performance, but not at the expense of deafness or irritability.
Need some .02's guys....

Some people will tell you that their Moser rear was really loud. I installed mine about a month ago, took the time to heat cycle it, and had everything rechecked before i was hard on it. I've pounded on it and so far is not any more loud than the stock rear. Has a slight whine above 75mph, but not any more than the stock rear.

The gears are what is loud, a set of 4:10s will be much louder then a set of 3:23s, this is due to the angle of the gears, I have found the best way to not here lud gears is get louder exhaust.

4.10 will be quiet if you can get the correct gear pattern when setting it up. Sometimes it's difficult to do. As far as noise in the aftermarket rears go, I heard that strange housings tend to be less noisy. I don't know for sure.
