Default 12bolt rearend

if i buy a 12bolt will i need a new drive shaft like i would if i bought a 9in???

Nope the 12 bolt will let you keep your driveshaft. The S60 needs to be shortened by 1.625 inches ,but I believe the 9" needs to be lengthened.

Keep in mind though that the stock driveshaft is weak and can turn into a pretzel under the car, taking out the exhaust system and puncturing the floor board as it wildly spins out of control. There have been many pictures posted on here of what happens. Bob

Seems like the you may be on borrowed time as it is if your car in question is the one in your sig. With that kind of power, I would get the new drive shaft as a insurance policy.

I thought of a new driveshaft as just part of the cost of upgrading to a 12-bolt.

What kind of DS are you guys upgrading to and from where did you get it? I am also running a stock DS as my 3.5 " Lingenfelter wouldn't fit
