Well it seemed like you were turning it slightly after the teeth were making contact in both directions that the axles were getting slightly turned making it seem like there is more play than there actually was, but if the axles were 100% still, then that definately seems like too much play.

I can tell you from experience that's way too loose. The pinion nut backed out and gave excessive clearance. You can even see in the video that the nut doesn't always turn the same and the yolk. If you would have snugged it back down, you wouldn't have broken it.

LOL, another internet expert, probably doesn't know the difference between a pinion nut and a u-joint.
Have you torn it apart yet? I'm curious to learn what was wrong. I have just about as much play in my 9" and the builder of the rear end and one other shop that looked at it both say it's normal for my setup.

I sure do! yea its not visible but i was refering to the yolk. sorry, 20 total hrs of sleep in 4 days sucks.
Same deal happen to me though. i noticed clunking on my old rear after gear install and that video was very similar to what mine was doing. if you stared hard enough at the yolk and nut, you could see it was not turning at the same ratio... tightned down the pinion nut more and problem solved.
