Default Help with a 10bolt?

Hey guys I recently discovered I had some play in my axles. I am able to pull the axles out about 1/4" on both sides. I don't know anything about rearends and how much play is acceptable in the axle. Any ideas on what the problem could be or how to fix it? Oh and the diff cover is off and the teeth on the axles and diff are ok.

Not a problem, it's normal due to the design.

could be worn clutches or spider gears, maybe worn axle buttons. Some play is normal, 1/4" is excessive.
