Zexel Torsen(sp?) or Paddle style???
How does the paddle style differentials work? I just pulled my friends stock 3.42 rear end and there is no resistance when trying to rotate the tires independently. I know the old clutch style posie rear ends are hard to turn independently. If you spin one of his wheels the other spins in the opposite direction...I always thought this was and indication of and 'open' style differential. If you hold one tire and turn the yoke there is no resistance at all and the other tire turns freely.
Any words of wisdom?
Thanks
Josh

Its actually a worm gear diff.. The paddles I believe are just a thrust plate for I guess to help loate the axles..
It works on the principle that worm gears will only transmit tq in one direction easily...
When one wheel totally loses traction or ovecomes its tq bias, it will act like an open diff.
If that bothers you, and you want something more agressive that'll stay locked under very low traction situations, then
