Well, I hear you on the knowledge thing, don't worry about it.

To break to down, simply. You are asking 2 entirely different questions.

Feel free to ready the stickies up top as they provide a wealth of information.

Moving forward, to change your gearing in the stock 10 bolt rear. You need to either contact a performance shop and they can guide you, or get someone local who is good at rear gear swaps and buy the parts.

Question: Does your automatic has a selection for 1st gear?? Or after "D" can you do down one click more. As if I recall the cars with 2.73's had a different carrier then those with 3.23's and that would matter when doing a gear swap in a 10 bolt. I myself never bothered as they are weak rears and I moved on to swapping in a 12 bolt.

Now, you cannot convert your 10 bolt into a 12 bolt, its a major investment that is over 2500$ to do so if you dont have the scratch, then do not worry. Focus on buying a install kit, gear set, oil, differential additive (GM only), and give the parts to a qualified mechanic and have the PCM reporgrammed.

Ok, then you have a 3.23 stock. Basically check with sponsors for a gearswap and kit.

http://www.thunderracing.com/shop-by...-Install-Kits/

Notice where they say 2 series and 3 Series. You have the 3 Series.

Have fun!

Also!

http://www.thunderracing.com/shop-by...and-Additives/ You can and should use NON synthetic rear gear lube but if you have a Posi you need this at the bottom of the screen.
