Default Few installed 9" pics..

Finished putting this in yesterday and went to the track. Drove 60 miles on the QTPs and except for turning out of my driveway I didnt even notice the car had a spool in it. I will say though this thing is dead quiet, I checked moser's setup (not too hard with a a 9" when its apart ) and it looked pretty good. I sure didnt have to worry about breaking it at the track last night though, zero prep and a ton of imports but I did muster a slowly rollin the throttle 1.747 60' and a 7.39 @ 96 so thats not bad for the first time out I guess..

Its a heck of a lot quieter then the 12 bolt w/3.90s i had in it before :

Its just nice knowing there is no way I'm going to break the rear. I'm going to weigh the car today at the shop so I'll see exactly how much more then the 10 bolt it weighs.

I wouldnt drive everyday with the spool but since I never take the ET streets off I'm screwed in the rain anyhow. Yes its the aluminum center section.

FWIW I weighed the car the day before I swapped the rear and weighed it this evening. With me in the car with the 10 bolt the car weighed 3501, with the nine inch, aluminum center section, spool and drilled/star flanged axles it added exactly 23lbs to the rear - 3524 racweight now. These are digital scales used for setting up $100K+ porsche road race cars so they are very accurate..

Sure seemed heavier when I was hefting all the parts under the car but 23lbs give or take the weight of a gallon of gas isnt bad..

That's awesome, KP. What did the whole setup, the 9", cost?

They are that much heavier with standard axles, posi unit and nodular center section. When you get drilled/star flanged axles, aluminum center section and a light spool they are quite a bit lighter the the usual 9"

I got a very good deal on it from Matt at TTP, great guy to do business with. It was ~2300 shipped if I remember right, dont quote me on that price - I forget.

The spool is a lot cheaper then the posi unit, thats why it seems cheap plus I didnt get any ABS stuff. I may put a locker in it down the road (400.00) but it doesnt drive too bad with the spool.
