what driveshaft to use in a 4l80 swap
this is in a 2000 trans am with stock 10 bolt for now i will be ordering a mwc 9 inch before i take it to the track but im using the 10 bolt to break in the motor and get it tuned and such .will the stock shaft work for the 10 bolt ? or does someone make a custom shaft for this swap

the 4L80E is about 3/8 longer than the A4/M6 trans. the yoke is the difference though. the 4L80E uses the same yoke as the TH400 A3 trans, as where the A4/M6 trans use the same as the PG/TH350. the 9" rearend will be a slight bit shorter than the 10 bolt however, so the difference is little between the two in the end. you could theoretically swap over the yoke on your stock shaft and bolt it up, but by the time its said n done you may be better off cost wise to just get the good shaft now with a 447 rear u-joint, then when you get the rearend just simply switch the rear joint back to 1350 square.
I have the used shaft from my car from the 4L80E swap available if you're interested, and can supply you with both u-joints. email or call me if you're interested.
